“Firdy,” called Vernice and asked “what is jiwang?”
“Jiwang means cheesy or corny,” i told vernice.
“What’s corny, horny i know la.”
“Errmmm.. corny and cheesy share the same meaning.”
When i failed to explain to Vernice the meaning of these words, i had asked Shun Yau to explain what they meant but to my surprise, oh to my surprise, Shun Yau whose english was far better than average was asking me back what these words meant.
So i looked up the dictionary and found the meaning of corny. “Here Vernice, come come, see this, corny means ‘mawkishly sentimental’.”
“What does that mean?” asked Vernice.
“Ermm… have you seen Korean drama?”
“Yes,”
“Korean drama very corny la, people fall in love, and then they cry and then they die.”
“Oh, corny means you like me ah?”
“No, corny means i like you, you like me too, but your mother doesn’t like us liking each other, then i cry, and then i die, and then you cry. That’s corny la.”
A few hours later.
“Firdy, i wanna go home already.”
“What you do after this.”
“I want to watch Korean drama, this one very keng one. Got this guy ah..”
Oh silly Vernice is too corny! T_T
